VR training on ammunition safety for international female experts in Austria
15 women from all over the world are currently completing a two-week training program in Austria focusing on the International Ammunition Technical Guidelines. Part of the program is the VR application for the safe and secure storage and management of ammunition developed by VRVis and Heereslogistikschule.
15 international female experts are currently completing a two-week training on ammunition safety in Austria, organised by the Federal Ministry of Defence, the UN Office for Disarmament Affairs and the Ammunition Management Advisory Team. Already one year ago, course participants practiced the safe handling of ammunition using the VR application from VRVis and Heereslogistikschule.
The virtual reality application can be used to train all the usual steps involved in safe ammunition storage and logistics, for example the correct handling of access control.
Together with the UN Office for Disarmament Affairs (ODA) and the Ammunition Management Advisory Team (AMAT), the Austrian Ministry of Defence is implementing a course on the safe handling and reliable management of ammunition for 15 international female experts. For a period of two weeks, the women are trained in essential technical guidelines. The immersive virtual reality applications from VRVis and Austrian Heereslogistikschule is part of the program. It is designed for the training of safety protocols in ammunition storage and enables participants to safely learn and practice the necessary skills in a virtual environment.
Educating people worldwide in ammunition safety with the help of VR
The application is an integral part of numerous educational programs organized by the Austrian Armed Forces both nationally and internationally. Common practical tasks are simulated in VR. The trainees can move freely in the virtual environment and interact with different ammunition depots and objects. They learn, for example, about access control and the correct inventory and sealing of ammunition boxes. The application provides different scenarios, aimed at the training of various problem-solving skills. This also requires the trainees to assess the situation adequately and flexibly.
